Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayodeji Makun, better known as AY, attributed his remarkable ascent to stardom to a blend of prayer and unwavering determination.
During a recent episode of the TokeMoments podcast hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa, AY delved into his 25-year journey within the entertainment industry.
He reminisced about his early career days as a show promoter, initiating a campus beauty pageant at Delta State University, Abraka, where he groomed contestants who later participated in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, representing Nigeria on the global stage at the Miss World competition.
Reflecting on his past roles as Assistant Pageant Manager for Miss Commonwealth and as a Personal Assistant (PA) to the renowned Nigerian comedian Alibaba, AY expressed his aspiration to reach the same level of acclaim as Alibaba.
AY shared insights from that period, saying, “I worked closely with the comedy maestro, Alibaba, as his personal assistant, accompanying him on various trips. People sought photos with Alibaba at airports, while I, carrying his phones and a small bag, stood beside him. I didn’t anticipate it, but I prayed for such a moment. Back then, it was merely a prayer point backed by relentless dedication and hard work.”
