Renowned Awka Ibom comedian and public information announcer, Aiza Nwosu, found himself in an accident on Friday morning, which also involved three bystanders awaiting buses at the bustling Aroma junction.
Nwosu, a familiar face in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, is known for cruising around town in his vans equipped with multiple loudspeakers, blaring music. Often, he can be seen parked by the roadside, grooving to the beats of his loud tunes.
The incident occurred as Nwosu was heading towards the Government House from Aroma, colliding with people waiting at the junction. An eyewitness attributed the crash to brake failure, noting that those hit, including a tricycle rider, were swiftly taken to the hospital.
Upon arrival at the accident scene, our correspondent observed officials from the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) removing some of the music equipment from Nwosu’s vehicle to prevent vandalism.
Although onlookers refrained from speaking to journalists, an ACTDA official mentioned their inability to elucidate the accident’s cause, citing their prompt response to the emergency.
As the broken windshields littered the road from the collision, efforts were underway to tow Nwosu’s wrecked vehicle to the ACTDA office. As of the time of reporting, Nwosu was confirmed to be alive and receiving medical attention.
