In a striking revelation at the Special Offences Court in Lagos, dispatch rider Monday Osazuwa shared details of how former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, instructed him to collect $3 million in cash over several occasions.
Osazuwa, who served as a dispatch rider at Zenith Bank since 2001 and later as a contract staff member at CBN in 2014, testified before Justice Raman Oshodi. He recounted his role as a senior supervisor in charge of documenting and filing while working in Emefiele’s office.
According to Osazuwa, he delivered cash sums, with the highest being $1 million, to Emefiele’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. He also detailed collecting $850,000, $750,000, and $400,000 in separate transactions. Despite his loyalty, Osazuwa stated he never received any reward or payment for his services.
Emefiele faces 23 counts of alleged abuse of office and fraud totaling $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion. Justice Oshodi granted him bail of N50 million.
