Renowned Second Republic lawmaker and veteran journalist, Sidi Ali, passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 86 in Kano State. His demise was confirmed by a family member on Friday.
Ali, a dedicated servant of the nation, notably in public information, was the father of Hakama Sidi Ali, the acting Director of Corporate Communication Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Shehu Sanni, a human rights activist and former lawmaker, paid tribute to Ali on Friday, describing him as a repository of Nigeria’s history, capable of recalling every significant event. He expressed his condolences to Ali’s family and the people of Kano State.
Throughout his career, Ali served in various capacities, including roles at the Nigerian International Press Centre, the Ministry of Information, and the National Broadcasting Commission. He was also an active member of the All Progressives Congress, contributing to the party’s Elders Committee in Kano State.
