The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a prayer gathering on Monday to seek divine intervention for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a resolution to the ongoing nationwide strike action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The event, which took place at the private residence of Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in Makurdi, was attended by the state party leadership, members, and esteemed religious leaders.
The prayer session was divided into two sessions, with the first held at the chapel and the second at the open ground within the residence. The bishops in attendance led the congregation in eight prayer points, including prayers for peace, wisdom, and knowledge for President Tinubu, as well as a resolution to the nation’s economic and security challenges.
The gathering also sought divine intervention in the security situation within the state and prayed for God to touch the heart of the state governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, regarding the ongoing feud with party stakeholders. Austin Agada, the state party chairman, emphasized that the prayer gathering was organized in light of the current situation in the country and to commemorate President Tinubu’s first anniversary in office.
Agada stated, “We need to pray for the president and his lieutenants for God’s guidance and intervention in the ongoing nationwide strike and the turn-around of the nation’s economy.” He promised that the state and the north-central geopolitical zone would continue to support the president and pray for his success in office. The event demonstrated the party’s commitment to seeking divine guidance in addressing the nation’s challenges.
