In the midst of widespread economic hardship in Nigeria, the controversial singer Portable has expressed skepticism about the upcoming nationwide protest planned by various groups.

According to Drivetvnews, many Nigerians are organizing a nationwide protest scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10, 2024, in response to the increasing cost of living under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In an Instagram story posted on Thursday, Portable criticized the idea of the protest, suggesting that those planning to participate are unemployed.

He cautioned that he should not be expected to perform at the protest and attributed the need for the protest to what he described as laziness.

“It won’t be well with anyone who asks me to perform during the protest. If you have a producer, you should also grab the mic and join the protest,” Portable stated.

He continued, “I need money and I’m working hard. If you took your job seriously, you wouldn’t be joining the protest. Instead of fighting for Nigeria, fight for yourself.”

Portable further asserted that Nigeria is not the problem; rather, he believes that individuals are responsible for their own circumstances. He suggested that opportunities and money are available, and the issue lies in personal effort and connections.

“You are the one who is not okay. There are opportunities out there, and you might not be making the right connections. There are people who can help, and jobs available. It’s your responsibility to work hard and fight for yourself,” Portable concluded.
