Nigerians have taken to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to criticize former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole for mocking the state’s current Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife, Betsy, regarding their childlessness. Drivetvnews previously reported that Oshiomhole, in a press interview with selected journalists, claimed that Governor Obaseki and his wife lack affection for children.
Oshiomhole’s comments were in response to an alleged statement from Betsy Obaseki, who purportedly remarked that Monday Okpebholo, the APC’s governorship candidate, is the only contender in the state without a wife.
In his reply, Oshiomhole asserted that Obaseki and his wife have remained childless since their marriage and have not opted to adopt any children because they do not care for children.
In response to Oshiomhole’s remarks, Nigerians have labeled his comments as excessive. Some have also criticized Betsy Obaseki for questioning Okpebholo’s decision to remain unmarried.
