The Nigeria Police Force has detained 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye in connection with the murder of Idowu Christianah. According to Drivetvnews, Idowu, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State, was abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos in August by Adeleye.
Adeleye, who is currently a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun State, is now facing serious allegations. The hashtag #JusticeForChristianah has gained traction on X as users call for the swift prosecution of the suspect. Additionally, there are suggestions from social media users that Adeleye may have been involved in the deaths of his former girlfriend in 2018 and his sister in 2020 under similar circumstances.
In response, Lagos State Police Spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest in a brief statement on X, accompanied by a photo of Adeleye in handcuffs. The police reported that Adeleye was transferred to them by the Nigerian Army on the afternoon of September 5, 2024. They added that an investigation into the case is ongoing. The police stated, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to @LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade @HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”
