The Police Command has refuted claims that it arrested the husband of the deceased woman, clarifying that he was only taken into protective custody due to safety concerns. This action followed a complaint by the woman’s family, who suspected that the husband might have been involved in her death.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the husband was the one who reported his wife’s death to the authorities. He also informed them that he was being threatened by her family. In response, officers were dispatched to his home to ensure his safety, after which he was taken into protective custody.
“He was the one who alerted us about his wife’s passing and mentioned that her relatives were threatening him. Fearing a possible attack, we went to his residence and brought him in for his own protection,” Edafe explained.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident based on the family’s formal complaint.
“At this point, we are conducting a thorough investigation. Only an autopsy will reveal whether her death was natural or caused by other factors,” the police spokesperson stated.
