Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has strongly denounced the overnight arson attack on High Court 2 in Ilesa by unidentified individuals. He labeled the act as a “senseless assault on the state’s judicial system.”
The fire, which occurred during the night, caused extensive damage to the court facility, including the destruction of important legal documents and evidence. The entire building was severely affected, despite efforts by the state fire service, which arrived after the damage had been done.
In response, Governor Adeleke has instructed security agencies to launch a full-scale investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible. He also directed heightened security measures around all court facilities across the state to prevent similar incidents.
“A comprehensive investigation must be carried out, and those behind this criminal act must be brought to justice,” the Governor emphasized. “Security around court premises must be strengthened to ensure the safety of judicial operations.”
Additionally, Governor Adeleke has tasked the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to collaborate with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to begin immediate reconstruction of the damaged courthouse.
Describing the arson as a direct threat to democratic values, the Governor reaffirmed the judiciary’s crucial role as a pillar of democracy and called on citizens to support, not undermine, judicial institutions.
