Abubakar Katcha, a former Commissioner for Science and Technology in Niger State, has expressed deep concern following the discovery of a suspicious device inside his wife’s bra, which he claims caused serious health issues.

Katcha revealed that the bra, marked “Made in China,” was purchased from Kure Market in Minna. According to him, after his wife began wearing it, she developed breast-related symptoms that raised fears of a possible cancer diagnosis.

He told Arewa PUNCH that during her illness, their newborn son also refused to breastfeed, adding to their distress.

Describing the events, Katcha explained, “In October 2023, shortly after the birth of our son, my wife went shopping for the naming ceremony. She bought several items, including a bra from the market. She had no idea it contained anything harmful.”

Not long after she started wearing the bra, she experienced swelling and a discharge near her nipple. Concerned, they visited a pharmacy in Minna, where she was advised to use feeding bottles and was given a course of expensive antibiotics. Over time, her condition appeared to improve and the baby resumed breastfeeding.

However, in May 2025, while washing the bra, she noticed something unusual hidden inside. Out of curiosity and concern, she cut it open and discovered a small battery and another unknown object. When placed together, these items appeared to emit a strong form of radiation.

Katcha said he found similar components on both sides of the bra. “The labeling indicated it was made in China and included the size tag. This discovery was shocking and deeply troubling,” he said.

He urged the government and relevant agencies to take action by thoroughly inspecting imported products to prevent the sale of potentially harmful goods.

Katcha concluded by suggesting that such incidents could be part of a broader issue involving the distribution of dangerous products intended to damage health and increase dependency on foreign medical treatments.
