Three suspected kidnappers were reportedly killed during a shootout with security forces in Oyo State on Monday.

The incident occurred around midnight in Otu, the headquarters of Itesiwaju Local Government Area. According to local sources, a group of armed men stormed the community and abducted a resident, sparking fear among residents.

Reports indicate that some farmers noticed suspicious activity and quickly alerted local security personnel.

“Security agents responded immediately and engaged the suspects in a gunfight,” a source said. “Three of them were believed to have been killed during the exchange, while one escaped with the kidnapped victim.”

Another resident, who asked not to be named, confirmed that a search was ongoing to locate the fleeing suspect and rescue the abductee.

The case has since been reported to the police division in Otu for further investigation and coordinated action.

Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of this report.
