Oyo Police have arrested a 26-year-old school gateman in Ibadan for allegedly raping a four-year-old pupil. The suspect confessed, and investigations are ongoing for prosecution.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old school security guard, identified as Josiah Ayomide, for allegedly raping a four-year-old pupil in Ibadan.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on Thursday.

According to him, the incident came to light on August 29, 2025, when the young girl complained of genital pain to her elder sister. Upon further questioning by her mother, the child revealed that the school’s gateman had violated her.

Osifeso stated that the suspect confessed to the crime after his arrest. The victim was taken to the Police Medical Clinic in Eleyele, where a medical examination confirmed bruises and injuries consistent with sexual assault. He added that the suspect would face prosecution once investigations were concluded.

In a separate case, the command apprehended two men, Azeez Kolawole and Isah Fatai, for allegedly stealing goats in Ibadan and nearby communities. The suspects, who operated with an unregistered Toyota Matrix, had reportedly been arraigned on two previous occasions for similar offences.

The PPRO noted that both men admitted to their crimes, and efforts are underway to arrest other members of their theft syndicate.

He further revealed that the police also arrested several other suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, and vehicle hijacking across the state.
