A young Benue lady has been killed in Lagos by her ex-boyfriend, two years after their breakup. Police confirm his arrest as investigations continue.
A Lady from Benue State has been killed in Lagos, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, nearly two years after their relationship ended. The shocking incident has drawn outrage from the public.
The deceased, an interior decorator who recently finished her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was attacked in her apartment by her former partner, identified as Lintex Ogale. According to her sister, their relationship ended in August 2023, but Ogale allegedly refused to move on and frequently threatened that if he could not marry her, nobody else would.
On the night of the tragedy, Ogale reportedly disguised himself as a dispatch rider to gain entry into her estate. After security guards denied him access, he allegedly scaled the fence, cut her gas pipe in an attempt to cause an explosion, and then forced his way into her home. Neighbours recounted that he stabbed the victim several times until she collapsed.
The suspect allegedly tried to harm himself afterward but was restrained by neighbours and later handed over to the police.
Her grieving family described her as a hardworking and ambitious young woman whose bright future was cut short by what they described as “a forced relationship.”
Police authorities have confirmed the suspect’s arrest, saying investigations are ongoing.
