A lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Dr. Samuel Ojogbo of the Faculty of Management, is facing investigation over allegations that he raped a 20-year-old student on campus.
The student, a 300-level undergraduate whose identity is protected, alleged that on August 22, 2025, the lecturer invited her to his office around noon, where he allegedly forced himself on her.
She reported the incident to the police on August 28, 2025, after which she received medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Confirming the case, UNILAG’s management said both the police and the university’s Safeguarding Centre are involved. The police are handling the criminal aspect, while the centre is providing counseling and support to the student.
The university’s spokesperson, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, explained that a committee had already been set up to investigate the lecturer. She assured that the process would be thorough and transparent, with findings to be released through official channels once concluded.
Alaga-Ibraheem reiterated that UNILAG maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment. She encouraged students and staff to report any such incidents to the appropriate offices, stressing that the institution will act decisively on verified cases.
“The university is committed to ensuring accountability and justice in this matter,” she stated.
