Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the moment she officially received confirmation of her latest record — the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

On Monday, Guinness World Records announced that Baci, working with food brand Gino Nigeria, achieved a new milestone at the Gino World Jollof Festival in Lagos by preparing an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds, 9 ounces) of jollof rice.

Baci posted a seven-minute Instagram video capturing the tense wait with her family, friends, and the Gino team before a video call from a Guinness World Records representative. During the call, the official confirmed that her cooking process and evidence met the organisation’s criteria.

With the news delivered, the official declared: “With a total of 8,780 kilograms, Hilda Baci and Gino, you are the Guinness World Records title holders for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. Congratulations — you are officially amazing!”

The clip also displayed the Guinness World Records certificate and showed the Gino team celebrating the historic feat.

Reacting to the announcement, Baci praised her team and supporters:

“The entire team went above and beyond. It’s my name and Gino on this record, but it belongs to everyone who worked on it. This project was bigger than us — it’s historic,” she said.

Her post caption echoed the same gratitude, crediting Gino Nigeria for providing the platform, and acknowledging every person who “stirred, packed, and served,” describing the achievement as a product of unity, love, and collective effort.

“This win is for Nigeria, for Africa, and for everyone who believes in the power of food to bring people together,” she added.

This marks Baci’s second Guinness World Record. In May 2023, she broke the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, clocking 93 hours and 11 minutes — surpassing the previous holder, Indian chef Lata Tondon, who cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes.

Baci has now updated her social media bio to reflect her “two-time Guinness World Record holder” status as congratulations continue to flood in from celebrities, fans, and well-wishers.
