Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has publicly distanced himself from the decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party.

The expulsions, which also affected former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and eight others, were announced during the PDP national convention taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State. Delegates from 17 states participated in the session, where the affected members were accused of anti-party activities and actions considered harmful to the party’s unity.

A motion for their removal was moved by Bode George, who argued that their conduct conflicted with the party’s collective objectives.

Reacting to the development, Governor Fintiri clarified that he did not support the decision:

“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, dissociate myself from the move to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, from the PDP. I believe this action does not serve the party’s best interest, and I will not align with anything that could worsen our internal challenges.”

He emphasized that maintaining peace within the PDP remains his priority and urged for reconciliation rather than punitive actions.

“I stand for unity and stability. What the party needs now is healing, not further division,” he stated.
