A heavy deployment of security operatives was observed on Tuesday at the Adolak Event Centre in Osogbo, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) proceeded with its 2026 Osun State governorship primary.

This development comes despite the earlier announcement by the state chapter, led by Sunday Bisi, declaring that the primary could not hold due to the ongoing national leadership crisis within the party. Bisi also suggested that Governor Ademola Adeleke might not be willing to contest for the PDP ticket under the current circumstances.

However, the PDP National Organising Secretary, Theophilous Shan, insisted that the exercise must take place as scheduled.

Security around the venue was notably tight, with operatives from the Police, Civil Defence, and the Department of State Services stationed across the premises.

The primary election committee, headed by Humphery Abba, as well as representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, were also present.

As of the time of reporting, accreditation of delegates from all 30 local government areas had been completed. A committee member confirmed that 957 out of 990 accredited delegates were cleared to participate.

Initially, two aspirants were listed for the contest—Senator Ademola Adeleke and Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola. However, Adeleke has since withdrawn from the party, leaving Adedamola as the sole candidate in the race.
