The Oyo State Police Command has opened an investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, daughter of Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, who was taken by unidentified persons in Ibadan on Thursday night, December 4, 2025.
Otesile, a mother of two and daughter of the founder and General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, was reportedly seized at the gate of her home in the General Gas area around 8 p.m.
The incident was first revealed in a notice posted on the Oyo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Facebook page. The alert stated that Otesile had been abducted in front of her residence and called for urgent assistance from security agencies and the public.
CAN appealed for immediate action from the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, civil society organisations, and concerned citizens to help ensure her safe rescue.
Attempts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, by telephone on Saturday were unsuccessful, but he later confirmed through a text message that the case is being actively investigated. He assured that further updates would be provided as developments unfold.
Osifeso had also earlier confirmed to another news outlet that the abduction occurred on Thursday night and that detectives were already working on the case.
Additional reports indicate that Otesile is the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite.
