The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly supplying ammunition to bandit groups operating in Zamfara State.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, Abubakar — a resident of Anguwan Dodo in Gwagwalada — was apprehended on December 7, 2025, at about 3:30 p.m. following actionable intelligence received by the Command’s Tactical Team.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Abubakar had been communicating with an associate, Yusuf Mohammed, regarding the procurement of 1,000 rounds of ammunition intended for criminal groups in Zamfara.
Further inquiries also suggest that Abubakar was acting under the instructions of his uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, who is believed to be a key member of the network and is currently on the run.
“The suspect is in custody as efforts continue to track down the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the network responsible for supplying arms to criminal elements,” Adeh said.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public safety and eliminating criminal operations across the Territory.
