The Alaafin’s Palace has taken note of a statement attributed to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, claiming that he consulted three traditional rulers in the state—the Alaafin of Oyo, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, and the Soun of Ogbomoso—regarding the rotational chairmanship of the State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
The Palace wishes to clarify that at no time did His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, hold any meeting with the Governor or with any of the other traditional rulers mentioned on this matter.
Furthermore, the Alaafin did not convey to the Governor, nor did he make, any statement endorsing a rotational chairmanship among the three traditional rulers in the state.
The official position of the Alaafin and the entire Oyo community on the issue of the State Council of Obas and Chiefs has already been clearly stated in a memorandum submitted to His Excellency by the Oyo Council of Elders.

Bode Durojaiye
Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin,
Paramount Ruler of Oyo Kingdom and
Superior Head of Yorubaland.
