The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, in connection with the alleged killing of his wife, 25-year-old Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released on Friday in Birnin Kebbi by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday.
Usman explained that Mamuda allegedly assaulted his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe, an attack that reportedly led to her death. Following the incident, the suspect fled the community but was later tracked and apprehended after police investigations, aided by credible information from residents.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Umar Mohammed-Hadejia, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The police spokesperson urged members of the public to promptly report crimes and continue to cooperate with security agencies in order to enhance safety and maintain law and order across the state.
