The father of the late Afrofuji artist, Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to the public for assistance after his son’s SUV reportedly went missing just days following the singer’s death.
In a video that quickly went viral, Destiny Boy’s father explained that the vehicle had been returned to the dealership shortly after his son passed away, but its current location remains unknown.
He recounted that the SUV was purchased from Lycon Autos, and he had accompanied his son to finalize the transaction. On the day of purchase, the dealership assigned a driver to deliver the vehicle to their home.
“The driver later assisted Destiny Boy with personal errands,” the father explained. “At some point, he claimed that my son owed him money and returned the SUV to the dealership without informing us. I don’t even have his contact information. If the vehicle were here, I would have collected it myself. Nigerians, please help me locate it.”
Destiny Boy, aged 22, passed away on Sunday, with news of his death first confirmed by singer Bolisco, a colleague of the controversial musician Portable. Bolisco stated that the late singer had been ill prior to his death, suffering from severe symptoms including vomiting blood.
Born Afeez Adeshina, Destiny Boy rose to prominence for his Fuji-inspired sound and began his career at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, working as a backup dancer for Fuji musician Pasuma. He gained wider recognition in 2019 after releasing a Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song If, and went on to produce covers of tracks by Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor.
The singer also released original songs, including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan, and Lowkey. Destiny Boy welcomed his first child with his partner, Iremide, in November 2024.
The search for the missing SUV continues, and the family has called on the public and relevant authorities for assistance.
