A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has officially announced his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027.
The declaration was made public through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha.
Olajide, who currently chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, said his decision followed extensive consultations with political allies, community leaders, stakeholders, and constituents. According to him, the encouragement he received from these groups convinced him that his experience in governance and grassroots engagement could help advance the development of the state.
He acknowledged the progress recorded under the administration of Seyi Makinde, noting that the governor has established a solid foundation for continued development in Oyo State. Olajide commended Makinde’s leadership style, which he said has improved infrastructure and strengthened public confidence in government.
According to the lawmaker, his goal is to build on the achievements of the current administration while expanding opportunities for economic growth, social progress, and inclusive governance across the state.
Olajide outlined several priorities in his agenda, including diversifying the state’s economy, empowering young people through technology, strengthening security, and improving infrastructure in both urban and rural communities. He also emphasized the need to promote digital innovation, support small and medium-scale businesses, expand access to quality education, and improve healthcare services.
He explained that his vision for the state is centred on sustainable development, economic productivity, and responsive governance that places the welfare of citizens at the forefront.
Olajide also stressed that transparency, accountability, and citizen participation are essential for effective governance. He called on residents of Oyo State, especially members and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, to support his aspiration.
The lawmaker urged the people of the state to work together with him to build on the progress already made and move Oyo State toward greater development.
