Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye has approved the indefinite suspension of Ayoade Adeseun from his position as Mayegun of Ogbomosoland.
The decision was communicated in an official letter issued by the Palace Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, on behalf of the monarch. According to the statement, the former lawmaker’s recent actions were considered inappropriate for someone holding a respected traditional title, citing repeated acts of insubordination and conduct deemed disrespectful to the palace.
The letter expressed concern that Adeseun’s behaviour—both publicly and privately—did not reflect the dignity and responsibilities expected of a chief within the traditional institution. It further stated that his actions had brought embarrassment to the throne and undermined the authority of the palace.
As a result, the monarch exercised his authority to suspend him indefinitely from the chieftaincy title, effective immediately.
Adeseun was also instructed to stop presenting himself as Mayegun of Ogbomosoland in any setting, including public events, official functions, media appearances, and online platforms, until further notice.
Reacting briefly to the development, Adeseun acknowledged the suspension but declined to give a detailed response, saying he would speak on the matter at a later time.
He was originally installed as Mayegun in 2021 by the late Oladunni Oyewumi.
