In a candid revelation, Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama opened up about the emotional and physical abuse she endured from her estranged husband, Godwin Okrim, triggered by the disappointing performances of his favorite football club, Manchester United.During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Inyama recounted the distressing experiences of facing aggression and beatings whenever Manchester United lost a match. The actress acknowledged that the trauma still affects her, resulting in a strong aversion to the football club. Watching Manchester United lose brings back painful memories of the beatings she endured during her marriage. She frankly expressed, “I hate Man Utd, ehn. The number of beatings wey dem beat me because Man United lose match ehn. Even up to today when there is a football match and Man U loses, I am like Thank God, today would have been a beating day. Even my son knows and would be laughing.”This revelation underscores the enduring impact of domestic violence and emphasizes the connection between personal relationships and sports fandom. It highlights how traumatic experiences can become linked to specific events, influencing one’s emotions and reactions over time.
