A man staying at a luxury hotel woke up in excruciating pain to find a scorpion attached to his testicles. Michael Farchi, a guest at The Venetian resort in Las Vegas, is contemplating legal action against the hotel after the harrowing experience.
Farchi, from Agora Hills, California, was staying at The Venetian over Christmas when he was suddenly awakened by intense pain in the middle of the night. He described the sensation as feeling like someone was stabbing him in his private area.
Upon investigating, Farchi discovered a scorpion hanging onto his underwear. Photographs of the orange scorpion, likely an Arizona bark scorpion, provide evidence of the terrifying incident.
Staff at The Venetian are unsure how the scorpion entered the hotel room, a detail Farchi prefers not to dwell on. He remarked that the creature was simply under his cover.
Rooms at the luxury Las Vegas resort can cost anywhere from $250 to $2,500 per night, adding to the shock of the incident.
Farchi promptly filed a medical incident report, detailing the scorpion bite to his groin/testicles, noting “a lot of pain” as his primary injury.
His attorney, Brian Virag, emphasized the traumatic nature of the experience, expressing confidence that major hotels like The Venetian have protocols in place to prevent such incidents. However, he stressed the importance of ensuring these protocols are followed consistently.
In response, The Venetian stated that their protocols were indeed followed. Despite this assurance, Farchi is considering legal action, highlighting the expectation of safety when checking into a hotel.
