An investigation is going on in a community in Benue State following reports that some hunters rescued a baby believed to have been buried alive, allegedly by his mother. The incident took place in Ashav Kusuv, a community located in the Buruku Local Government Area of the state.

According to a resident named Terna, hunters found the baby girl in the forest and managed to bring her to safety. He recounted, “Some hunters on Saturday found a baby girl and said that they found her buried alive in a forest. The baby is currently being taken care of at Ashav Kusuv community,” as reported by Drivetvnews.

The Chairman of the local government, Iorkyaan Agber, confirmed the incident, stating that the child was indeed found by hunters in the forest. Agber mentioned, “Some hunters indeed found a baby in the forest but we are investigating to know who went and dropped a baby in the forest and the reason for doing that.”

However, the police in the state have yet to issue an official statement regarding the distressing event.
