Naja’atu Salisu, a 300-level Computer Science student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, was discovered unconscious after a fall in the bathroom on Friday morning. According to sources, Naja’atu had gone to the bathroom in the female hostel at the Gubi campus to take a shower and prepare for her classes. She was later found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor.

A roommate of Naja’atu, who chose to remain unnamed, explained that Naja’atu had finished her usual morning activities and had laid out her clothes for the day next to her bed before heading to the bathroom.

ATBU spokesperson Zailani Bappa confirmed the incident, noting that Naja’atu was promptly taken to the university’s clinic for emergency medical care. However, the medical staff were unable to locate a vein for treatment. She was subsequently transferred to the Trauma Centre at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead.

Bappa also mentioned that Naja’atu was laid to rest according to Islamic customs, and prayers were offered for the peace of her soul.
