Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, is set to bid a final farewell to his beloved mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away on August 18. The family had shared the details of her burial arrangements through an e-flier on social media, revealing that a wake and tribute in her honor will be held today, October 12, 2023, followed by the funeral ceremony on the subsequent day.

The funeral service is scheduled to take place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David in Victoria Island, Lagos. A recent video circulating online captured Wizkid looking visibly saddened during the candlelight procession held in memory of his late mother.

This heartfelt moment has elicited a range of reactions from fans, who have been expressing their condolences and prayers for the grieving artist. Wizkid has always held a special place in his heart for his mother. In a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood, he shared that his father had three wives, highlighting the significant role his mother played in his life.

In 2014, Wizkid paid a touching tribute to his mother through his music. He released a song titled ‘Mummy Mi’ as part of his ‘Ayo’ album, dedicated to mothers worldwide. In the song, he expressed his deep gratitude to Jane for the immense joy she brought into his life and vowed to shower her with the finest things life has to offer. The song stands as a testament to the enduring love and respect Wizkid holds for his late mother.
