A tragic incident occurred at approximately 3:46 PM on Friday in Ori-Eru, Idikan, according to our correspondent’s report.

CSP Olaniyan Jibola from the Mapo Division confirmed the incident, explaining that upon reaching the scene, which was a two-story residential building with six rooms, it was found that the victims had died while attempting to warm their room with an open flame due to the cold weather.

Upon arrival, the authorities discovered a fire on the upper floor of the building. The fire was quickly contained and fully extinguished, although the victims had fallen asleep after lighting the fire.

Three bodies were recovered from the fire, while five individuals were rescued safely. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the ground floor or affect nearby properties.

The police team, supported by Amotekun personnel led by Gbenga Akinyemi from the North West Division, managed to bring the situation under control.
