Nigerian artist Mayorkun recently revealed the reasons behind keeping his mother’s identity hidden for years. In a podcast interview with Taymesan, he explained that being recognized as the son of renowned Nollywood actress Toyin Adewale brought unwanted attention and favoritism he wished to avoid.
Mayorkun emphasized his deliberate choice to conceal his mother’s identity during his university years, expressing discomfort with the fake attention linked to her fame. He recounted incidents where he avoided public acknowledgment of their relation, even when she visited him at school.
Additionally, Mayorkun addressed his connection with former label boss Davido following his departure from Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). Despite rumors suggesting strained relations, Mayorkun clarified on the Tea With Tay podcast that he maintains a strong bond with Davido. He attributed the misconceptions about their relationship to his preference for not displaying it prominently on social media.
