Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, alongside music executive Paul Okoye (Paulo), discussed their fulfilling relationship despite choosing not to marry, deeming marriage as “overrated.”
During the latest episode of her TV show, Iyabo Ojo shared that she and Paulo are content in their relationship and intentionally opt out of marriage due to their belief that it’s overrated.
Elaborating on their stance, Iyabo stated, “I am enjoying my relationship. I am enjoying it. Luckily for me, he [Paulo Okoye] also doesn’t believe in marriage. We feel like it is overrated.”
Joining the conversation, veteran singer Charly Boy agreed, adding, “I agree with you that marriage is overrated. My son called me the other day and said, ‘Dad, why can’t people have a contract and say we will just do five years in marriage and if we are lucky and happy, we renew the contract?’”
Charly Boy further emphasized the changing dynamics of marriage, highlighting the shift towards individualism in contemporary times. He noted that the traditional aspects of marriage have evolved, with people becoming more focused on personal fulfillment rather than serving a spouse, contributing to the complexities faced in modern marriages.
