Veteran Nigerian singer John Odafe Asiemo, known as Daddy Showkey, recently revealed that he has been facing death threats since speaking out about the controversial death of fellow artist Mohbad. Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023, raised questions, and Daddy Showkey, in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, suggested that there might be more to the rapper’s death, implicating influential figures within the music industry and society.

During a return appearance on Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live session on Monday night, Daddy Showkey disclosed the alarming threats he has been receiving since his previous comments regarding Mohbad’s demise. He expressed his concerns, stating, “Daddy Freeze, do you know that after my last interview with you, I received numerous death threats? Do you realize that even individuals in government were making threats?”

He continued, “I simply urged them to watch your interview. Did I say anything untrue? What I’ve been saying is the truth. You wouldn’t believe the ordeal I endured. I couldn’t even sleep that night; the threats kept coming.” Daddy Showkey’s bravery in speaking out about this sensitive issue has exposed him to a troubling situation, underscoring the need for a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s untimely death.
