The United Action Front of Civil Society has issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to apologize to Nigerians and resign following the alleged forgery and perjury of his academic records from Chicago State University (CSU). The group, expressing its outrage, demanded an apology from the President and the entire All Progressives Congress (APC), along with Tinubu’s immediate resignation.
In a statement released on Friday, Hamisu Santuraki, the spokesperson of the Civil Society Organization (CSO), highlighted that the revelation from CSU has substantiated the longstanding suspicions surrounding the President’s identity. The group emphasized Tinubu’s false claims in his 1999 affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about attending non-existent schools and forging a CSU diploma certificate for the 2023 presidential elections.
The Civil Society group regarded Tinubu’s actions as blatant criminality, involving forgery of a certificate from a foreign academic institution, which constitutes perjury under the law. The group cited the violation of the Nigerian Constitution and called for immediate action.
Furthermore, the group warned that if Tinubu fails to comply within seven days, the National Assembly must initiate the impeachment process against him. They stressed the importance of preserving the dignity of the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ensuring that only morally fit individuals occupy the position, in accordance with the Constitution.
