The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report indicating a 26.72 percent inflation rate in September. The NBS attributed the inflation spike to increased prices of various essential goods.
In reaction, the PDP criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that the report highlighted the government’s lack of preparedness for governance. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, expressed their lack of surprise at the report and lamented the rise in extreme poverty under Tinubu’s rule.
Ologunagba emphasized that the APC-led administration had pushed more Nigerians into poverty, contrasting this with the PDP’s management of the economy. He pointed out that during the PDP’s tenure, inflation was within single digits, the Naira was stronger against the Dollar, and essential commodities were more affordable. He urged Nigerians not to lose hope, expressing confidence in the Supreme Court to rectify the situation and restore the nation to a path of growth and prosperity.
