In a recent post on his social media handle, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), commended David Balogun, a nine-year-old Nigerian boy, for achieving a remarkable milestone. David made history by becoming one of the youngest students in the world to graduate from high school, studying at Reach Cyber Charter School in Pennsylvania, United States.
Obi expressed his admiration for David’s achievements, emphasizing the importance of ethical and responsible leadership in nurturing such talents. He stressed the need for a nation to invest in crucial areas like education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, echoing his commitment to ensuring every Nigerian child receives quality education, especially at the basic level.
Obi highlighted the challenges faced by many Nigerian children due to the lack of nurturing opportunities for their talents, contrasting their situation with David’s exceptional journey. He acknowledged the leadership failures in the country that have left approximately 20 million out-of-school children without formal education.
Encouragingly, Obi emphasized his vision for a New Nigeria where every child has access to quality education. He emphasized the necessity of aggressive investments in education and the creation of a safe and conducive environment to support the discovery and development of the diverse talents inherent in the Nigerian population.
Obi concluded his message on an optimistic note, stating his belief in the greatness of Nigeria and its people. He expressed confidence that, together, they could build the New Nigeria of their dreams.
