The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has officially dissolved its former national executive, led by former President Yomi Otubela, as reported by Naija News.
Following the expiration of Otubela’s term on November 22, 2023, the Board of Trustees (BOT) disclosed the establishment of an interim administration tasked with managing the association for the next four months until fresh elections can restore stability.
The leadership dispute within NAPPS led to Otubela’s impeachment by the People’s Parliament in NAPPS, accusing him of alleged misconduct. Otubela, denying these accusations, also faced criticism for delaying the formation of an electoral committee, suggesting an attempt to extend his tenure.
Addressing the recent briefing, Dr. Mijinyawa Said, the Chairman of NAPPS’ BOT, emphasized that the board’s decision aimed to prevent further administrative turmoil. He highlighted employing the principle of necessity and employing various strategies to inaugurate a new administration responsible for governing the association’s affairs and facilitating credible elections within the specified 120-day timeframe.
