A branch of the Celestial Church of Christ in Lagos State has faced severe criticism after extending an invitation to popular Fuji singer, Pasuma, and street-hop artiste, Portable, to perform at their praise night event.
The announcement was made through a flyer which was shared on the church’s Facebook page.
Numerous individuals expressed their discontent in the comment section, condemning the church for involving secular artists in its sacred gathering.
One Facebook user, Bolanle Bamidele Adewuyi, expressed their disappointment, stating, “I find this disheartening. Is this what you have reduced the Church of God to? It’s laughable.” Festus Olanrewaji Ojo, another commenter, expressed his disdain, exclaiming, “This is a disgrace! Such a huge shame.” “This is absolute nonsense,” BUKOLA commented. Ayo Ife humorously suggested, “The lineup isn’t complete yet. You could have added Naira Marley for the whole ‘soul winning’ experience!”
Edafe Oghenebrume expressed his disapproval, emphasizing, “This is sacrilegious in the Celestial Church of Christ. It is disheartening, pathetic, shameful, and disgraceful. He question the spiritual guidance provided by the Shepherd-In-Charge and the congregation.” Adding to the criticism, Becky Wunmi Hassan Ayoade remarked, “They are turning the Celestial Church into anything and everything.” Nevertheless, a few individuals mentioned that they planned to attend the event.
