A self-proclaimed prophet met a tragic fate as he drowned and was subsequently torn apart by crocodiles during a baptism ceremony. The lifeless body of the 48-year-old man from Atok was discovered surrounded by crocodiles in the Olifants River in Limpopo, South Africa. The incident occurred during a prayer ceremony a few days earlier, where one of the prophets faced difficulties and drowned in the crocodile-infested river. Police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba indicated that it is suspected the man was attacked by crocodiles during the baptism. The man was part of a trio of ‘prophets’ conducting the service by the overflowing river. Despite efforts by the other two prophets to locate their colleague, he remained missing. Authorities have cautioned locals against engaging in spiritual activities or swimming in crocodile-infested rivers. The Nile crocodile, the sole crocodile variety in South Africa, inhabits freshwater environments and poses a significant danger, with numerous unreported deaths occurring annually across Africa.
