A tragic incident occurred at Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State, resulting in the drowning of 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba during a hangout. The incident took place around 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 27, as Kelvin went swimming with five friends. According to a police source, Kelvin succumbed to the strong waves of the sea. Kelvin’s mother recounted how the water swept her son away while he was out with his friends. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that detectives had visited the scene but Kelvin’s body had not yet been found. This tragedy echoes a similar incident involving a Lagos-based prophet, Oriyomi Remilekun, who drowned during a beach hangout in Ajah on Valentine’s Day. Remilekun, along with youths from his church, had gone to Avista beach to celebrate but tragically went missing, ending the outing on a somber note.
