Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Albert Akpomudje, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the intertwined issues of insecurity and power supply as crucial steps towards resolving food insecurity in the nation.
Speaking to journalists in Ughelli, Delta State, Akpomudje highlighted the challenges posed by the illegal occupation of farmlands across the country, hindering agricultural activities and leading to decreased food production.
He emphasized the significance of improved electricity supply in unlocking Nigeria’s full potential, expressing optimism that it could significantly alleviate the nation’s current hardships.
Akpomudje stressed that tackling insecurity and power supply issues would have a ripple effect, addressing various economic challenges faced by the nation. He cited examples of farmland encroachment by herdsmen and the adverse impact on agricultural productivity, as well as the limitations faced by the manufacturing sector due to inadequate power supply.
He urged President Tinubu to prioritize resolving these issues, emphasizing that it would facilitate a return to farming without fear, attract investment back into the country, and bolster production and manufacturing capacities.
Highlighting specific instances of land occupation by herdsmen in Delta State, Akpomudje underscored the urgent need for action to safeguard agricultural lands and ensure the safety of farmers.
