Nerus Elemamba, a 30-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri, Imo State, tragically took his own life. His lifeless body was discovered hanging in his room on Monday evening in Umuohii, Obaoma community, Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local Government Area.
According to reports, Nerus participated in the village’s communal labor with his peers before the unfortunate incident. Surprisingly, there were no apparent signs of depression leading up to his suicide, as he was described as actively engaged in village activities and jovial with his peers.
The village is now grappling with shock and confusion, seeking answers as to what could have driven Nerus to such a desperate act. The incident has sparked fear and uncertainty among the community members.
Authorities, including the Imo State Police, have been alerted, and investigations are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Nerus’s untimely death. Henry Okoye, the Imo police spokesperson, confirmed being uninformed about the incident when contacted for comment.
