The Nigerian entertainment sphere ignited with controversy after Bobrisky, a well-known crossdresser, was awarded the ‘Best Dressed Female’ title at a prestigious movie premiere in Lagos. Portable, a prominent musician, voiced his dissent in a manner that escalated tensions further.
Bobrisky’s attire, an all-black ensemble, clinched her the coveted award and a cash prize of N1 million at the premiere of the Yoruba Epic movie ‘Beast of Two Worlds.’ This decision triggered a flurry of debates on social media platforms, with many questioning the judging criteria for honoring a crossdresser in a female category.
Portable, renowned for his hit track ‘Zazoo Zeh,’ didn’t mince his words, criticizing the judgment and questioning Bobrisky’s gender identity: “I heard they awarded Bobrisky as the best-dressed female in a movie. Is he a woman? Isn’t it artificial? Bobrisky is a man.”
He expressed disdain for individuals renouncing their brotherhood and embracing sisterhood, threatening violence: “If you come to my neighborhood dressed as a woman, you’ll be beaten with firewood.”
Portable also lamented the organizers’ choice to overlook the stunning actresses present and instead honor a crossdresser. He raised concerns about the impact on impressionable children witnessing Bobrisky being awarded a female fashion accolade despite being male.
In response, Bobrisky took to social media, lambasting Portable and issuing threats: “Portable, is your mother’s death looming? What’s my concern with your life? Do I resemble your people in the ghetto? God will punish you. If you try anything with me, I’ll take you where you’ll be dealt with, and your dead career will finally end. Worthless child of a foolish person.”
The exchange escalated with Bobrisky degrading Portable’s character, branding him a “dirty boy” and questioning his relevance in the discourse.
