The military has taken custody of Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe, the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom in Delta State, who was wanted by authorities. The confirmation came from Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, as reported by The Nation.
According to Police Commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi, Ogenerukeywe voluntarily surrendered himself shortly after being declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters, along with seven others.
The monarch arrived at the Police Command headquarters at 6:41 pm. Prior to his surrender, he denied any involvement in the alleged killing of 17 soldiers in the Okuama community during an interview on TVC.
He stated, “I am surprised and dismayed to find my name listed among wanted individuals. I categorically deny any involvement in or support for such heinous acts. As a Catholic, it goes against my beliefs and values. I urge thorough investigations to identify the perpetrators and ensure justice is served. I am fully cooperative, and the state government is informed of my stance.”
