Akure—In a shocking incidence, Babalola Dolapo, a 39-year-old fruit trader, confessed to the murder of his childhood friend, Evangelist Opeyemi Oyelakin, during a recent police interrogation in Ondo State. Dolapo disclosed that he, along with accomplice Sikiru Mutiu, killed Oyelakin, stole his motorcycle, and disposed of his body in a pit along Oke-Igbo Road in Oke-Igbo/Ile-Oluji Local Government Area.
According to Dolapo, the crime was impulsive, and he attributed it to the influence of evil forces. He admitted to selling the stolen motorcycle for N130,000 and splitting the proceeds with Mutiu. Dolapo expressed remorse for his actions, particularly since Oyelakin was a close friend from childhood.
Oladipo, the state police commissioner, condemned the gruesome act and criticized the lack of alertness among locals in the area where the body was found. He highlighted the importance of vigilance, urging the public to report suspicious activities promptly.
The police commissioner emphasized the need for caution among motorcycle riders, advising them to be wary of passengers seeking rides to isolated areas. Additionally, he assured ongoing efforts to apprehend all involved parties and encouraged community cooperation in combating crime.
