A tragic incident unfolded on Saibai Island in Australia, where a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a crocodile attack, as reported by authorities. The incident occurred during a swimming outing with a 13-year-old companion, after their dinghy malfunctioned, forcing them to swim to shore. Despite being in waist-deep water, the older boy disappeared, and his body was later found in the mangroves. Queensland Police’s Senior Sergeant Greg Giles expressed condolences and stated that the younger boy, who witnessed the event, was deeply affected. Wildlife officers confirmed the nature of the injuries as consistent with a crocodile attack, estimating the reptile’s size to be around 3.5 meters. Following the tragedy, local residents urged authorities to locate and remove the crocodile from the area. The Department of Environment, Science, and Innovation pledged to survey the waters by helicopter and extend condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
