Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor, Olugbenga Olawore, who was abducted along the Lanlate-Eruwa road in Oyo State, has been released, according to reports on Sunday.
Olawore and a group of others were kidnapped on Thursday near the Maya area of the Lanlate-Eruwa road, all within the state’s jurisdiction, as per The PUNCH.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the news in a statement released in Ibadan, the capital city, on Sunday.
Oyelade assured the public, stating, “Our citizens can rest assured that our state’s security apparatus is fully active and vigilant in carrying out their duties.”
“The State Government is closely monitoring and evaluating the security situation within its borders effectively.”
“Since the incident was reported, the government has maintained close communication with the State Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, and his team, as well as our security forces. All parties have taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our citizens and their property,” he emphasized.
Oyelade reiterated that the government remains committed to maintaining peace in the state, affirming its status as one of the most peaceful states in the country.
Efforts to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for comment were unsuccessful as his mobile number was unreachable.
