Three individuals tragically lost their lives in a fatal road collision along the Akungba-Ikare Road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday.
Drivetvnews Reports indicate that the accident involved a Toyota Camry bearing registration number LND 592 GX and two commercial buses.
An eyewitness disclosed that the driver of the car abruptly opened the door, striking a motorcycle carrying the victims, causing them to fall onto the road. Subsequently, another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction ran over them.
Sadly, the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, prompting the driver of the car to flee to avoid possible retaliation, while enraged youths set the vehicle ablaze.
Mr. Ezekiel Son’Allah, the Ondo Sector Commander of the Road Safety Commission, confirmed the incident, attributing it to wrongful overtaking and route violation by the vehicles involved.
Son’Allah emphasized, “Three fatalities occurred due to wrongful overtaking and route violation. The victims were promptly transported to Aduloju Hospital Akungba by law enforcement officers.”
He urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, suggesting the installation of speed breakers to prevent future accidents on the road.
