A pregnant woman, Chinwendu Igwe, was abducted while en route to the hospital for delivery, reportedly giving birth to a baby boy at the kidnappers’ hideout in Egede, Udi local government area of Enugu State. The incident occurred last Monday, with Chinwendu accompanied by her two young children, aged between two and four years.
Her husband, Ekene Igwe, confirmed the ordeal, stating that he paid a ransom of N1.6 million to secure the release of his wife and newborn from the forest in Egede where the kidnappers had demanded the payment. Fortunately, a compassionate motorcyclist rescued their two abandoned children from the roadside.
Expressing gratitude for their safe return, Igwe, a native of Attakwu Akegbe Ugwu Awkunanaw, thanked God for the outcome.
